Eric Staggs is a Wisconsin-based writer, known for his unusual sense of prose and an enduring passion for science- and speculative fiction. As a graduate of the Creative Writing program of Columbia College Chicago, Eric uses his skills to create thought-provoking and bone-jarring short stories and flash fiction pieces.
His perceptive and sometimes cutting film and restaurant reviews have been published repeatedly in the Wisconsin-based Arts and Entertainment magazine, Volume One.
Eric has worked as a professional freelance web content writer since 2006 and is currently working on his first full-length novel, a feature-length script and several shorts.
His website, www.somenewlanguage.net features blogs on the topics of writing, storytelling, mythology, film and book reviews and short fiction.
Writing credits include:
Tales of the Talisman (December ’08)
Twilight Tales
Volume One Arts and Entertainment Magazine
The Aviator (July ’10)
Red Sand (TV Pilot)
Eric earned an interdisciplinary BA from Columbia College Chicago in Creative Writing and Screen Writing in 2006. He is currently a graduate student at Full Sail University, working towards an MFA in Creative Writing.
His hobbies include philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, classical history, gaming, strategy, literature, cinema, cultural trends, technology, Buddhism and of course, zombies.
Eric Staggs grew up in New Mexico, in the shadow of Sandia Peak. The stark contrast between his childhood home and the near-arctic climes of Madison Wisconsin has inspired his writing in many ways.
